Thursday Social League

An open league for recreational curlers!

About the League

This is the RCCC's best option for beginner curlers. This league is full of beginner and recreational curlers, all looking to come out, have some fun curling, and socialize. If you don't have a lot of curling experience, or are just looking to have fun playing the sport, this is the perfect league for you!

If you don't have a team, do not worry! The league coordinators, and our dedicated Board of Directors will make sure to match you up with other individuals looking for teammates.

This league is organized and operated by the RCCC management team, along with assistance from Ben Knockleby on our Board of Directors. If you are interested in joining or have questions, please contact the club directly at:

Payment can be made via e-transfer to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or in person with card, cash, or cheque. Please note: you are not considered fully registered for a league until you have filled out both the PDF Registration form, the waiver, and paid your fees in full.

Who Can Join?

This league is for anyone of any age or skill level! This is the perfect place for a beginner team, a family team, a junior team, or any other team looking to have some fun!

While the majority of curlers in this league have prior curling experience, only a basic understanding of the game is needed to come out and have fun! We recommend joining a Try Curling session, or organizing a Private/Group Lesson prior to registering for the league.

If you are new to curling and need some help with the rules, please don't hesitate to reach out. We would be more than happy to help!

When is the League?

This league takes place on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm.

If more than 12 teams register, there will be two draw times, one at 6:30 pm and one at 8:00 pm. In this case, teams would alternate between the two draw times throughout the season.

League games will start on Thursday, October 19th, 2023. From there, games will take place on the following dates:

Oct. 19, Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 23, Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Dec. 14, Dec. 21, Jan. 11, Jan. 18, Jan. 25, Feb. 1, Feb. 8, Feb. 15, Feb. 22, Feb. 29, Mar. 7, Mar. 14, Mar. 21

How Much?

The Thursday Social League is $312.00/player + the mandatory Curling Alberta $13.00 Membership Fee. The total fee for the full season is $325.00/person.

This league also has the option to only play for half a season. Either October-December, or January-March. In either case, the fee would be $156.00/player + the $13.00 Membership Fee. The total fee for half a season is $169.00.

What do I Need to Bring?

Yourself! We can set you up with a team if you don't have one. If you do have friends or family that you would like to curl with, bring them along as well!

If you have curling equipment, please bring that along. If you do not have curling equipment, that is not a dealbreaker!

The RCCC has grippers, sliders, stabilizers, and brooms available to anyone who needs them.

Otherwise, all players are responsible for bringing clean, indoor shoes and appropriate clothing (loose, stretchy pants and layers). Helmets are not required for adults, but participants are encouraged to consider helmet use if not completely comfortable on the ice. If any teams include a player under the age of 12 years old - they are required to wear a CSA approved helmet.

Please note: Clean shoes are mandatory. It is extremely important that shoes worn outside in the snow, water, and gravel not come on to our curling ice. The RCCC does not have spare shoes on hand at the club. If a participant comes to the event with inappropriate shoes, they will not be permitted to participate on the ice.

Where are we Located?

Suite 5, 4412 – 56th Street, Camrose, Alberta, T4V 5K4 - On the North side of the Encana Arena.

While the rink can be accessed through the main entrance of the recreation facility, the preferred entrance is on the north side of the building. Curlers can park in the north side gravel parking lot.

We hope that we have convinced you to come out and give this league a chance. See you on the ice!
