Club Manager - Kiren Scorah
Kiren Scorah is our newest member of our administration! Helping out Matt Yeo as an assistant ice maker learning the inside operation and install of a curling facility for 4 years, Kiren has been overseeing the daily ice maintenance duties for the Camrose club as well as the Wetaskiwin club for the last 2 years. Stepping up to the plate as the new General Manager, Kiren hopes to solidify his career in sports management by proving to the members of the Rose City Curling community that curling is his passion and wishes to grow the sport we all love. Outside of curling Kiren is an avid outdoorsman and loves to travel, hike and go camping in the summers and loves to be on the golf course as much as possible although his swing might need a little help. If you drop in to the club and say hello Kiren will most likely always be there to help with anything you need!
Head Ice Technician - Matt Yeo
We are pleased to have Tim’s Ice Manufacturing from Beaumont, under the leadership of Matt Yeo and Kyle Winters, on board to oversee our ice making duties again this season. You could say Matt’s second home growing up was an arena as he was mentored by and is the son of Tim Yeo, a well known and respected ice maker for over 45 years. Matt loves the sport of curling and it shows in his passion for his work and his support of the curling community. In the off season, Matt is a PGA of Alberta.
Ice Technician - Kyle Winters
Kyle grew up in Gibbons and started working under Tim Yeo more than 10 years ago helping to install both hockey and curling rink ice. Together with Matt, they have performed ice installs ranging from the Ottewell outdoor community hockey rink to the 2017 Ford Men’s World Curling Championship. Although his playing the sport is not a big aspect of Kyle’s drive, his passion lies in providing quality ice conditions for the players to appreciate the sport. Just like Matt, Kyle spends his summers at the golf course as a golf pro.
We look forward to having Tim’s Ice Manufacturing uphold the Rose City Curling Club’s reputation for offering quality ice conditions. Because of the pride we take in the quality of our ice surface, we ask that users of our facility wear appropriate and clean shoes free of grit and debris. We also ask that bare hands not be left on the ice surface after delivery of a rock. Together, we can all ensure our ice remains in top condition for everyone to enjoy.
