Curl Jams are an awesome opportunity for curlers and non-curlers alike to come out and enjoy the sport together!
About Curl Jams
Curl Jams take place on several Friday evenings throughout the season. These events evolved as a way to make curling accessible to a wider community of people. Beginner curlers, recreational curlers, and competitive curlers all fit in on a Curl Jam evening.
Your fee for the evening includes the following:
1) Four ends of Dice Curling
2) Refreshments
3) Entertainment and/or board games
4) Prizes
Every Curl Jam has a different theme, and therefore different entertainment and snacks. Some examples of what has been done in the past include:
- Comedy Curl Jam
- Pizza and Live Music
- Taco in a Bag and Name That Tune
- Nachos and Trivia Night
- Popcorn and Bingo
- Glow Curl
- Ugly Christmas sweater teams and Turkey shoot.
If you attend a Curl Jam and have an idea for entertainment or a snack that you would like to see us do, please bring it to our attention! We are always looking for new talent and new ideas.
When are the Curl Jams?
The RCCC will host three Curl Jams this season. Spaces are limited. Please register at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
October 18, 2024 - Glow Curl Jam
December 20, 2024 - Holiday Curl Jam

If these dates don't work for you, or if these aren't the events for you, check out some of our other options! We host plenty of other events throughout the season including a Doubles Night, an Open Bonspiel, and a Swing and Sweep. If you think you could benefit from some instruction before you jump into an event, take a look at our various Try Curling options. Explore our website for more information about events, programs, and curling in general.
How Much?
Each Curl Jam is $120.00/team. For your $120.00 fee, you get the following:
- 4 ends of Dice Curling
- Refreshments
- Entertainment such as "Name that tune" or trivia
- Prizes
Please note: While we strive to provide instruction wherever possible, we do not always have instructors available at Curl Jam events. Other participants are often willing to share their curling knowledge to ensure that everyone has a great time, but if you are interested in formal instruction, check out our Try Curling Lessons instead!
What do I Need to Bring?
The RCCC will provide all curling equipment required if needed.
All participants are responsible for bringing clean, indoor running shoes and appropriate clothing. The best clothing is long, stretchy pants of some kind (tights, sweatpants, track pants etc) and layers on top. While the temperature in the rink is not arctic, it is an ice rink and can get cold. It's far better to have the layers and not need them, than the other way around.
Gloves and hats are permitted, but please ensure that any gloves do not have fuzz or sparkles that will fall onto the ice during the event.
Helmets are not mandatory for participants over the age of 12, but are always encouraged at each participant's discretion. If your Curl Jam group includes a curler under the age of 12, they are required to wear a CSA approved helmet and we require a 1 adult : 1 child ratio at all times on the ice.
If you do have your own curling equipment, please feel free to bring it along!
Please note: Clean shoes are mandatory. It is extremely important that shoes worn outside in the snow, water, and gravel not come on to our curling ice. The RCCC does not have spare shoes on hand, so if a participant comes to a lesson with inappropriate shoes, they will not be permitted on the curling ice.
Who Can Join?
Anyone! Anyone and everyone!
Curl Jams are open to anyone. If you do want to bring your children out for a fun curling experience, please ensure that there is a 1-1 adult to child ratio. Anyone under the age of 12 is required to wear a CSA approved helmet on the ice at all times.
Curling has also made many improvements in the last couple of decades to broaden the accessibility of the sport. If crouching down and sliding seems impossible, stick curling is an option. This keeps the participant upright at all times.
